PM-836 PCB Replacement
Before the PCB can be removed, a parts replacement wizard must be run in the Administrator mode of the Maintenance Utility. The administrator mode of the maintenance utility can be accessed using the password “printmodule”
Begin the PCB replacement wizard by selecting the Parts Replacement tab in the Maintenance Utility (Figure 1).

Once in the Parts Replacement tab select the button that says PCB Replacement (Figure 2).

Figure 3: Create a replacement file
Once open, a file must be created that copies the data from the current PCB by selecting Create a File (FIgure 3). Save this file in a memorable location as it will need to be retrieved for the new PCB. After choosing the save directory be sure to click the button that says Save.
Note: If the PCB is too damaged to create a file, a new file must be chosen from the start utility directory, and will require you to run through the Setup and Installation Guide again.
Once the file is created, turn off the main power and unplug the power cable.
Three covers will need to be removed to access the main PCB.
Remove the orange back cover by loosening the three hand screws (figure 4)

Next, remove the side orange cover (with PM-836 text) by removing three M4x8mm Screws using a T-20 Torx bit. (Figure 5)

Once the four screws have been removed, the main grey cover can lift straight up to reveal the main PCB
Remove all connections from the PCB taking note to where they connect. Please note that the ribbon cable connectors are delicate and should be handled with care. It is also important to note which ribbon cables install where and that they are fully inserted.
A diagram of the wire routing can be downloaded below:
After all the connections have been disconnected, remove the 7 screws attaching the defective PCB using a T10 Torx bit. The defective PCB should now lift off.
Install Replacement PCB reverse of removal.
Once the PCB has been replaced, reinstall covers reverse of removal. Power on the printer.
Navigate back to the PCB replacement utility in the maintenance utility and click the button that says Select a File (Figure 8). Find the .bin file that was saved from the previous PCB and click Open. Once the directory is selected, click the Send button to download the information from the previous PCB to the replacement PCB.
