PM-417 PCB Replacement

Before the PCB can be removed, a parts replacement wizard must be run in the Maintenance Utility.   

Begin the PCB replacement wizard by selecting the Parts Replacement tab in the Maintenance Utility (Figure 1).

Once in the Parts Replacement tab select the button that says PCB Replacement (Figure 2).

Once open a file must be created that copies the data from the current PCB by selecting Create a File (FIgure 4). Save this file in a memorable location as it will need to be retrieved for the new PCB. After choosing the save directory be sure to click the button that says Save.

Note: If the PCB is too damaged to create a file, a new file must be chosen from the start utility directory, and will require you to run through the Setup and Installation Guide again. 

Once the file is created, turn off the printer and remove the two outer covers. 

Using a T20 Torx bit, remove three M4x8mm button head screws that fasten the orange Right Cover (Figure 4).

Remove the orange Right Cover from the printer and set aside.

Using a T20 Torx bit remove the M4x8mm countersink screws from the left cover (Figure 5).

Using a T20 Torx bit remove the last two M4x8mm button head screws on the other side of the Left Cover (Figure 6).

Now, while grasping opposite corners of the light gray Left Cover lift straight up to expose the PCB compartment.

Remove all connections from the PCB taking note to where they connect. Using a T10 Torx bit, remove the screws attaching the defective PCB. Remove defective PCB.

Install Replacement PCB reverse of removal. 

Once the PCB has been replaced, reinstall covers reverse of removal. Power on the printer. 

From the maintence utility, click the button that says Select a File (Figure 7). Find the .bin file that you just saved and click Open. Once the directory is selected, click the Send button.
