1170 PCB Replacement

Remove the top orange cover attached by 4 x M4 screws (T20 torx)

Cover lifts off:

Remove back covers attached by 5 x M4 Screws (T20 torx)

Remove front wrap by removing 3 x M4 screws (T20 torx)

The next step is to start disconnecting cables from the upper section to the lower section. Zip ties may need to be cut. Make note of the wire routing on your printer so that wires can be routed the same way after replacement.

Unplug the Ethernet and USB cable(s) from the HP main board. This is located in the lower portion of the printer

Carefully disconnect the three flat flexible cables from the HP Utility board. Route cables so they are contained in the lower section of the prnithead.

Disconnect the power supply cable from the HP utility board. Route cable so it is contained in the lower section of the printhead

Disconnect the door switch connection at the HP utility board - route wires to lower section of printer

Disconnect the secondary door switch connection - route wires to lower section of printer

Disconnect mains power from the HP utility board - route wires to lower section of printer

Now that all electrical connections are separated from the top portion of the printer, remove the four bolts (T40 torx / 13mm wrench) attaching the linkage arms. During this process, make sure the top portion of the printer is supported as it can fall when the last bolt is removed. A ball nosed torx bit is suggested if available.

Once all four screws have been removed, the top section of the printer can lift off:

Carefully lift up the PCB tray - note that there is a small black clip that needs to be unclipped as you lift up:

Secure the hinged plate so it does not fall over. Carefully disconnect cables from the PCB.
