Xitron Navigator
Installation or Reinstallation
Current Version: 8.2.5.2
Note: This only the software installation. You will need to have a purchased license key in order to use.
The style files must be placed in C:Navigator\Navigator\htdocs\DFE\Resources, and replace existing files. Before replacing the files, copy the whole “Resources” folder, rename “Backup” and save inside the “Resources” folder.
Uninstalling Xitron
Go to the Windows Start Menu and scroll down to the folder titled “Navigator.” In the dropdown, you should see “Uninstall Navigator.” Select and run the uninstaller.
Shutdown and Delete any Extras
After doing this, go to the taskbar tray icons in the bottom right of the desktop and make sure to disable all Xitron software including XiService, XiEvents, and XFDebug.
Next, go to “C: Navigator” and delete all remaining contents for a clean transition.
New Installation
If you have access, you can download the files from Xitron’s Support under “Navigator DFE for HP Download,” otherwise contact Postmark support for the package. If you are downloading from Xitron Support directly, be sure to download only the second link labeled “HP.”
Once the zip file is downloaded, and unzip the file. Next, select and run the Navigator Installer first. When finished, run and install the Navigator Client Installer.
Spot Colors
If you would like to use Spot Colors you will need to add it to the workflow, otherwise it will not work properly. Some versions may come with this already setup. To check, first you will need to go to the Navigator Client, select the DFE Workflow, and click the edit icon. Here you can see the complete workflow at the top of the page. If it is not there you will need to add the Stabilizer and Spot Color to the beginning of the workflow.
You will also need to add a pause after the XiPosition (unless you are wanting to print automatically from a Hot Folder) and add a 270 degree rotation under “Render Action.”
IP Address
You will now need to set the IP address again. There is “Set IP Address” file that can be made into a desktop shortcut to make this process easier by updating the IP address on both the HPPW file and the Navigator Server, otherwise you will need to set them manually (See section 2.4.3 “Setting the IP Address”). This file can be found at the file location listed below. You can also create a shortcut to the desktop for future edits, but this is optional.

Launch, Login, and Links
You may need to log back into the Client and the Server after the first launch. The username for the Client is “User” and for the Server it is “Administrator.” The password for both, leave blank.
Finally, to finish, create a few shortcuts on your desktop to make operation easier. Add shortcuts to the Navigator Launcher, DFE, and Client.
