Shipping Instructions for 1170 and BNB’s

1170 Printers and replacement BNB’s (Bar in Box) require special clips to be installed prior to shipping. These clips ensure that the ink passages are closed off as well as ensure the service tray (which caps the printhead) are locked in place.

Postmark always recommends that 1170’s are shipped on a pallet.

Prior to shipping, remove the cartridges and install the Orange ink tank shipping clip as shown below:

The service station door should also be removed so the two orange locking clips can be installed as shown below:

BNB’s come from the HP factory with shipping fluid in the BNB. When replacing BNB’s in the field, this shipping fluid will be purged out once the BNB has been programmed.

Upon assembly at Postmark, new 1170’s have the shipping fluid flushed prior to shipping. This allows Postmark to ensure that there are no issues with the printer and allows us to print the test pattern which is included with each new printer.

It is recommended to keep and re-use the packaging that Postmark sends the 1170’s and replacement BNB’s in. Replacement BNB’s sent via UPS or FedEx small package contain a larger outer box to help protect the BNB.

BNB’s sent via freight on a pallet only contain the box that contains the BNB. In the event that a BNB needs to be returned to Postmark via small package, it is important to add extra packaging around the BNB box to protect it.
